PATRICK HENRY COLLEGE BEATS HARVARD!!!!

A little Christian school, choice of many home school grads, defeated Harvard this month in mock trial competition! See article.

A PHC mock trial team beat Harvard University and Boston College in an intense tournament held at Harvard University in Massachusetts the weekend of November 7-8. PHC won four ballots in their first two rounds then lost four ballots to Brown University and the University of Illinois.

The division also included teams from Elgin College, and the universities of Princeton, Massachusetts, Villanova, Wake Forest and Yale.

“When word got around that Harvard was ‘crushed’ by PHC, and the Harvard team learned this was only PHC’s second year doing mock trial, they were shocked,” Pettus said.

AND THAT'S NOT ALL!!! PATRICK HENRY WON ITS THIRD MOOT COURT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN FIVE YEARS last January, 2009.

For the third time in five years, Patrick Henry College has won the American Collegiate Moot Court Association (ACMA) National Championship. Having sent a maximum-allowed roster of eight qualifying teams to Orange, CA, the College earned first, second, and third-place team trophies in a 64-team, 128-competitor field from across the country.

Heh heh. So Ivy League schools are best and their grads are the best? Maybe not!!!
So Christians are ignorant, stupid, irrational, uneducated, etc.? Maybe not!!!

Well, I certainly don't think all Christians are stupid, ignorant, irrational, and uneducated. And I am sure there are many atheists who are. Undoubtedly, there are many believers who are much more intelligent than I.

Mighty humble of you to say, ATS...

I get a lot of flack myself just for not believing in evolution--and I am pretty sure Patrick Henry students don't believe in it either.

Who was the quarterback for Patrick Henry and are the pros scouting him?

Quarterback? Pros scouting him? Are you delusional? This wasn't a football game but a game of the mind and Patrick Henry beat out the snobs from Harvard. I'd say that's a pretty good accomplishment, wouldn't you Muddy?

I agree Jeanette. P.H. is under 400 students --no football teams there but I am astounded at what they are really good at --sharpening the brain and rhetorical skills for ethical, skilled leadership where we need it. The photos of the student body show a clean-cut bunch.

Did you play football, Mudrake? My husband did in h.s.--also basketball, baseball --a shot put record holder for awhile who did that in college until the practices collided with his chem lab.

The one point missing here is the fact that PHC was created for the sole purpose of training the next round of right-wing leaders who adhere to fundamentalist Christian principles. It's pretty obvious that moot court will be the main school sport once you consider how often the religious right attacks "activist judges" or whatever term they use for them now.

I am wondering though: could any PHC student justify the unjust economic system we have or the right-wing militant foreign policy that has killed millions around the world? Debating Roe vs. Wade is one thing but debating whether or not Ronald Reagan should have been hung as a participant in genocide is another.
