Did Obama Really Say This on "Meet the Press"? If so, he should be toast as a candidate.

NO, ACCORDING TO SNOPES http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/stance.asp

he did not say the following--and he did not appear on Meet the Press on this particular day as described below. Political columnist John Semmens of The Arizona Conservative supposedly wrote Obama's quotation below as satire.

The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning's televised "Meet The Press'. and the author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!! Yeah...the Washington Post of New York and Los Angeles Times fame!! Must say that I'm duly impressed...[I don't know who "I" is --the one who sent it to me, or another.]

From Sunday's Televised "Meet the Press," Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance

"Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code,

Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, "Stand and Face It"

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it."We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine". Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overw helm the United States of America ."

[expletive] Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.

I, for one, am speechless.

Dale Lindsborg ,

Washington Post

I think this is just what Lindsborg THINKS Obama is really thinking --and his wife. A satirical piece, but it will be taken as truth the way it is presented.

In light of my Snopes research, I don't know if Lindsborg had anything to do with this email.

I think Obama is the anointed chosen one as spoken of in the old parchments. I think when the time comes, we need to accept his mark on our wrists and/or forehead as a show of support for his transcendent visage! I heard that at a recent Obama rally, lightning flew from his finger tips as he rossened up his bow.

So, you think he's the antiChrist, eh?

I saw where he parsed his words like Clinton --saying he didn't kick off a campaign in the Ayres house. He meant, "Not THIS campaign, at least."

It was an earlier --but not so long ago--campaign.

In 2001 Ayres was photographed standing on the American flag and he has said he wished he had bombed more.

What do you suppose he and Obama talked about, given that Obama doesn't admit to agreeing with him about anything? Why would Ayres give him a fund-raiser party?

What did he and his minister talk about?

The company one keeps is telling.

Anyone who doesn't realize that Obama has very harsh feelings toward the United States itself and harder feelings toward anyone who has had any financial success (excepting his family of course) hasn't really been paying attention.

Obama has bigger things to worry about than the USA, he has to spin his whirlymajig to get the "beast" up and running and something something with a 7 headed monster and some Babylon harlet, not to mention the whole tatooing of the 666's.

I heard that Obama is a 34th degree Mason and has Masonic tatoes at each chakra point to denote his alliance with the space brothers and Xenu.

I find Obama enormously likable in his public personna --that's what we are up against. Palin has as much charisma as he does, but also the drawback of being a non-ivy-league woman and an evangelical--a double drawback in the view of the elite media.

The company Obama has kept, the things he said about babies who survive abortion and the mother's right to have her choice completed, the Raines/Freddie mac connection -- the Muslim ties through 2 fathers and living in Indonesia, Farrakhan in the neighborhood, his pastor's anti-American rhetoric --his "spread the wealth around" socialism, his probable ACLU court appointments, his ties to that Syrian crook in Chicago who got him a house below market value

What does he talk about with all such friends?

A man is known by the company he keeps --and for me, he is known by his hard-nosed view of fetal life. When life begins is a question above his paygrade? My stars --a baby is a baby where the BAIPA was concerned! and the partial birth abortion ban. he has been on the WRONG side of the issue of LIFE and its value.

This man will change america alright.

Lucifer was a beautiful angel of light deceiving many.

I would like to know what Obama really did say and ,btw, who cares when it was televised....that is beside the point, really. Where is the real transcript, snopes.

Barb said...

My impression is that there was no such speech at all -that any speech on meet the press would not be very controversial --that this is a fiction to reflect our suspicions of Obama's REAL thinking!

The more he presides, the less sinister and the less influential and the less smart he seems. I think his job exceeds his abilities --period. He can still do a lot of damage with exec orders, though, I suppose.

For those wondering what was really said, here is a link to taping of the actual show. I don't have anything good to say about him or his performance, so I won't say anything other than this link will provide what was actually said.

kbc6313, that isn't the video of the date mentioned, the date mentioned was Sep 7, 2008.

I'm still looking for a video of that particular date. I've found a transcript, but no video.

One should exist though, if it doesn't, then that would be, strange.

Good grief people.

Educate yourselves. This was all a hoax and is still being passed around right now in sept 2012.

IT'S A HOAX! and you lame brains continue to spread it through your hatred of Obama.
See: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/obama_anthem.htm

"Analysis: No, presidential candidate Barack Obama didn't actually utter those asinine words. All the quotes are fictitious.

Some of them, specifically the sentences quoted first in the earlier variant above — e.g., "I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it" — were put in Obama's mouth by conservative humorist John Semmens (see his October 27, 2007 column, "Semi-News, on the Arizona Conservative website). In the original article, the intent was satirical.

Semmens's barbs were aimed at two of candidate Obama's actions early on in the presidential campaign that were perceived by some as insufficiently patriotic: 1) his decision to stop wearing a U.S. flag pin, and 2) his failure to place his hand over his heart during a rendition of the national anthem at a public event in 2007."

I think I said it was a hoax -- a satirical piece. Did you just read the headline and not my article? Apparently so.

Nevertheless, we need to go Upward --not just Forward. Vote for Romney!

Barb said...

Also, this blog by me was written in 2008 --so we aren't still circulating this story. You just happened to run into it on Google, I guess. If you would read articles instead of just the headlines, you would see that I also cited Snopes on this topic.

Barb said...

What Obama really said about the pin is little better than the satire.

From Snopes: "Of the first (not wearing a flag pin), Obama's actual explanation went as follows:

"You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest. Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism."
(Source: ABC News, Oct. 4, 2007.)

What a lame excuse! I'd have more respect if he said he couldn't find it! or didn't have one.

Barb said...

Furthermore, his attitude toward the flag in his actual quote --is consistent with the video taken a year ago at the 9/11 ceremony of Michelle whispering something that looked like "All this for a d... flag!" And his look in response to her.

They seem to belittle the flag as a symbol of our nation --and disrespect the solemnity of ceremonies involving the flag. It's understandable, given their backgrounds. And now we have this new flag with his O on it -- and stripes like the blood smears on the wall in the photo from the middle east.

I think it's really weird --the coincidence of their known attitudes about the flag --and religious symbols --covering a college's Christian symbol high up on the wall behind him when he was to speak there --and his messing with the flag using the Obama "O" and his photo in place of the stars in one case. Why can't he learn from the criticism? Does he have a message he'd rather get to his radical supporters? Some signal indicating that he is still with ayers, Doehrn, Davis, Alinsky, Islamists and other flag and country haters at heart? Or are the Obamas just insensitive, obtuse, and ill-mannered?

Barb,
I posted my comment on your blog after Googling the Dale Lindsford article after it was sent to me by my Mormon tax accountant.
I replied to her with the info I found that the article was a hoax.
I DID read your headline and my reply was more to the others that posted comments on your blog that seemed to assume the article and statements by Obama were true.
You apparently viewed my blog and replied there briefly. I posted a reply to you there.
You sure do make a lot of assumptions that seem to be strongly influenced by your obvious right wing Christian beliefs. And that's what they are...just beliefs.
You don't seem to bother with FACTS in your many accusations of those with whom you disagree so vocally.
I purposely don't often comment about the articles I post on my blog as I prefer to allow my followers the option to make their own decisions and come to their own conclusions. I post articles that expose BOTH, and all, parties' antics so that my viewers will be able to see what is really going on so they can prepare themselves for the disaster that is quickly approaching.
If you are such a Christian, why are you so divisive? Aren't we all God's children?
When did it become America's role to control the world, especially with military death and destruction rather than negotiating with those we have disagreements with?
I will peruse your blog more thoroughly to see if I can glean some value from it.

Christ is divisive, after all. He said He will divide the sheep (His followers) from the goats --(who are not HIs followers.)

There is a Heaven and a Hell, according to Christian doctrine --and that will be divisive.

We are all made in the image of God -but "To all who believe in (or call on) Jesus' name He gave the right to be called the children of God."

America's majority have no desire to "control the world with death and destruction." Negotiation is preferable when it works. Japan came to the US and talked with FDR --just before they bombed Pearl Harbor. It took us to bomb them to get them and Germany to quit.

You just can't stand idly by while the world gains nuclear weapons and threatens to wipe its neighbors off the map.

I've scanned over some of your blog.
It's difficult to respond in any way to someone that thinks like you do.

It's an exercise in futility because you are the type that is so set in your thinking that you will NEVER accept any messages that deviate from your line of thought.

I think the only thing that will ever get your attention will be the moment of your own death.

If there is a hereafter anything like the one you imagine, I wish you well.
Unfortunately, if there isn't one, you will never know it because you will be dead and gone and therefore unable to detect the 'nothingness' that your existence has become due to the death of your body.

Your soul, if there is such a thing, may move on in the same way that I believe that the energy of your life force cannot disappear but rather will continue as the conservation of energy theory implies.

I would explain more but my time is more valuable to me than to have to discuss this issue with you any further knowing that I will never make any headway without a great expenditure of my time.

So you have fun in running your blog which is merely your effort to substantiate your beliefs and seek agreement from those of your followers that have the same narrow beliefs.

I know that you will feel the compulsion to reply...but please summon the strength to NOT do so.

I am willing to separate knowing you won't change your thinking and I, while being very open to all thoughts, philosophies and beliefs held by the other humans on this planet, simply don't have the desire to carry this discussion further.

I hope that your beliefs don't end in conflict with others who may be for violent in the defense of their beliefs.

Barb said...

It's my blog. Why wouldn't or shouldn't I reply? Can you resist the compulsion to see if i reply or not? It's interesting how non-believers do not want to dialogue usually with believers. They often block them from their blogs. Though Christopher Hitchens was willing to take the risk to his resolved mindset by debates with the likes of Dinesh D'Souza. (See Youtube debates.)

I think we agree that the soul is eternal. You gamble that Jesus Christ did not tell the truth, was not from the Creator, did not rise from the dead --and thus any hope you have is of your own making.

I believe He rose from the dead --and that my faith in Him will save.

"He sent not His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world thru Him might be saved." "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." "Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."

This is good news, not bad.

Your concept is outstanding; the difficulty is something that not sufficient people are talking intelligently about. I am very joyful that I stumbled throughout this in my search for something relating to this. play casino

This blog is one woman's delusions. Of course, there is a God but only the one she thinks exists. There are millions and millions more non-Christians than Christians and yet this idiotic woman pushes her crap out. She is a real gem of wisdom with her constant an incessant harping against gay people. (See some of her other bullshit posts on that topic.) My guess is that she has not had sex in years if not decades. Why would anyone spend so much time going after gay people. Bet she does not even know any. Of course, she hates Obama and thinks Ms. Palin is anywhere near the kind of person that Obama is. I bet Barb wire can see Russia from her house too.
